Child Dedication
What is Child Dedication?
At LifeGate Church, we believe children are a gift from God. Child dedication is a way for parents to acknowledge God’s sovereignty over their child’s life and commit to raising them in a Christian home.
Dedication is not the same as baptism. Baptism is a personal decision made by someone who has chosen to follow Jesus. Dedication, on the other hand, is a commitment by parents to model faith, teach their child God’s Word, and pray that one day their child will personally choose to trust Jesus as Saviour.
The Bible teaches that parents are the first spiritual leaders of their children (Deuteronomy 6:4–7). Dedication is both a celebration and a commitment: parents commit themselves to raising their child in God’s ways, and the church family commits to supporting them in this journey.
Who Can Be Dedicated?
Any child, from infant up to 12 years old.
At least one parent must be a follower of Jesus Christ.
Parents do not need to be members of LifeGate Church to dedicate their child.
