Day 2: Tuesday
The Gentleness of Salvation
-
1 “Here is my servant, whom I uphold,
my chosen one in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will bring justice to the nations.
2 He will not shout or cry out,
or raise his voice in the streets.
3 A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;
4 he will not falter or be discouraged
till he establishes justice on earth.
In his teaching the islands will put their hope.”
-
When we think of "Breakthrough," we often think of a mega crash. But for those who don't know Jesus, the breakthrough they need is often one of extreme gentleness. Many people are "bruised reeds"—fragile from life’s hurts—or "smoldering wicks" whose hope is almost gone.
The Servant-King doesn't come to crush them; He comes to mend them. Salvation is the quiet, persistent kindness of a God who meets us in our brokenness rather than judging us for it.
-
Who is currently "bruised" by life or "smoldering" with exhaustion?
Ask the Holy Spirit to show them His gentleness today through a gesture or word from you.
As you go on with your day, keep an eye out for someone who looks like they’re struggling—you might be the kindness they really need today.
