We are here to fulfill the great commission given by Jesus “to make disciples of all nations” (Matt 28:16-20). Therefore, we want to equip every believer to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, enable them to equip others, and together impact the world and see lives transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We want to be a loving community where anyone can belong. Together we want to spur one another on towards love and good deeds (Heb 10:24-25) and encourage each other to overcome the challenges of life through Christ (John 16:33; 1 John 5:4).
We want to be an intergenerational family of believers that inspires each generation to be fervent followers of Christ (Rom 12:11), empowered by the Holy Spirit to live Jesus wherever we are (Acts 1:8).
Our VALUES - UNDERPINS OUR BEHAVIOUR
1. Authority of the Bible. We value the integrity and authority of the Bible and accept it to be God's Word and the manual for life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:22).
2. Dependency on God. We value prayer and believe that God hears and answers prayer. Prayer is a spiritual discipline that is essential for spiritual growth. It is the way we communicate with God and He with us. Prayer undergirds all ministries and activities (Ephesians 6:18; James 5:13-18).
3. Empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. We value the empowerment of the Holy Spirit on each person for living and ministry. The truth of the Scripture becomes functional only through the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit empowers and gifts each believer for ministry and that the body of Christ can only fulfill its potential as each person exercises their unique gifts (Romans 12:3-8; Galatians 5:16-26).
4. Authentic community living. We value small-group community living for accountability, belonging, care, and spiritual growth. We also value the contributions of people from different ages to one another. Through intentional ministry together, we foster strong family relationships and the connectedness of all individuals (Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Acts 2:17; Titus 2:2-7).
5. Urgent Kingdom mindset. We value the urgency of preaching the gospel to all peoples and nations as we look to Christ’s return. Only through Jesus are we able to find true forgiveness, new life, and the ultimate purpose for our lives. We partner and share resources with other Christian churches and organizations to further the Kingdom’s cause of seeing lives transformed by the gospel (Matthew 28:19-20; Hebrews 13:16).

Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania is a movement of churches and agencies who are committed to being “a movement of the people of God gathering in and around the central figure of Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, living out his way in our neighbourhoods, and inviting others to do the same.”
